New York City is looking to build a bus lane along part of Flatbush Avenue to help speed up people's commutes.

The avenue is one of the longest and most congested in all of Brooklyn, according to the Department of Transportation.

The DOT proposed to Brooklyn's Community Board 2 and Community Board 8 a multiphase plan for implementing a bus lane on the busy road.

The DOT says in a statement, in part:

"This process will help inform the best way to make Flatbush Avenue work best for all New Yorkers using the corridor."

The agency is doing more research to see how their plan could work, and they're expected to present report to community boards before finalizing a design next year.
