The Paterson Museum is getting $500,000 from the National Parks Service.
The site is one of the few in the country to get a Saving America’s Treasures Grant. The money helps preserve historic sites.
The Paterson Museum was once a locomotive factory where more than 10,000 trains were built.
"Fortunately, we have the state remembering us and the federal government and of course the mayor. And I'm very happy that this is the beginning of a new era for the museum and Paterson's history,” says museum director Giacomo DeStefano.
Paterson is also getting $1 million from the state to preserve the museum.
