A Paterson police officer was convicted by a federal jury on Friday for stealing money from city residents.
Michael Cheff led a group of five officers who illegally stopped, searched and stole money from Paterson residents.
All five officers in Cheff’s group testified against him at trial.
No sentencing date has been set yet for Cheff, but he could face up to 20 years in prison.
