Two hit-and-run drivers left a man dead early Saturday morning in Brownsville, according to police.

Authorities say a light-colored SUV was driving through a green light when the man was struck at the intersection of Linden Boulevard and Rockaway Avenue around 4 a.m. The driver immediately left the scene.

A driver in another light-colored SUV ran him over as his body was lying in the street and left just moments later.

The incident comes just days after a four-year-old boy was killed in a hit-and-run about four blocks away, less than a week ago.

Residents in the area say they hope tragedies like this don’t become the norm.

Police have not yet identified the pedestrian.
