A family is in mourning Sunday after police say a woman was struck by a vehicle and killed in Mill Basin.
Police say the woman was struck while crossing Ralph Avenue.
Neighbors say the victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was in her early 60s. They say she was hit while on her way to work at a nearby Duane Reade pharmacy.
A witness says the woman was hit by a blue Nissan Pathfinder at the corner of Avenue M, then dragged several feet before stopping. EMS declared her dead at the scene.
News 12 is told the woman only lived a few blocks away from the scene of the accident.
Police say the driver remained at the scene, but it's not currently known if they will face any charges.
