Police say an 11-year-old girl is dead after being hit by a hit-and-run school bus in Bath Beach.

Police say it happened just after 3 p.m. Thursday on 23rd Avenue and Bath Avenue.

EMS took the girl to Maimonides Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

News 12 spoke with deli employee Wail Alighithi, who says the girl came in before she was hit.

“She came here before this happened. She came and bought a chocolate and a soda…She’s a good person. She came every day," said Alighithi.

Authorities say officers stopped a bus, but they are unable to confirm if it is the driver who struck the girl.

They say someone was taken in for questioning, but no arrests have been made.
