Parents are outraged after personal student documents were found dumped outside an East New York school.
Folders of test papers and essays, with student names and grades on them, were found on the sidewalk behind East New York Family Academy, located at 2057 Linden Blvd.
People living in the area say they discovered the files Wednesday night inside clear plastic bags, which have since been torn open. Parents are now demanding to know how they ended up on the street and why they weren't shredded.
The Department of Sanitation came to clean up the mess Thursday afternoon.
The school's principal and head custodian say that a private dumpster company was hired to collect garbage from the school, but that the dumpster overflowed and the papers were left behind. They added that all records containing student contact information and Social Security numbers are separately destroyed.
News 12 reached out to the Department of Education about the incident, but has not yet heard back.
