Some small pharmacies in Brooklyn are closing due to the recent budget cuts by the state.
A Bay Ridge pharmacist says the state?s reimbursement cuts are devastating to both businesses and their customers. According to a study by the Pharmacy Society of the State of New York, more than 150 New York pharmacies are closing. The study also says there is a 70 percent reduction in reimbursement for Medicaid and other drug-assistance programs.
Pharmacist Steve Cilento says since the reimbursements are getting cut, the pharmacies are forced to carry less medication. He says that hurts business because customers are forced to go to another pharmacy.Protect Pharmacy Patients
