A pile of garbage outside P.S. 306 that appeared Friday is worrying residents in the area. 

Residents say the garbage looks like it was thrown out a school window. They’re worried about the garbage attracting vermin, especially in the heat, which could cause a real health hazard.

Also seen in the pile are school documents with identifying information about students, which can pose a privacy risk.

Community advocates are calling on the Department of Education to clean up the mess.

Residents say they've called 311 to complain, but so far nothing has been done. 

The Department of Education released a statement saying, "We are investigating this and will ensure any sensitive documents are swiftly disposed of in accordance with protocol."
