A plumbing problem that has plagued one Soundview family for the past five years is now forcing them outdoors just to take a shower.
According to Nilsa Pabon and her family, sewage bubbling up from their toilet and bathtub is flooding their home and taking a toll on their health. They say the ongoing mess used to be easily fixed, but that the simple repairs no longer last.
The family says they've created a homemade shower using a water hose attached to their sink and hung out the window. They then take turns heading outside to rinse off.
The landlord says he and a plumber are planning to break ground in the tenants' living room to fix the pipe that is causing the sewage backup.
