Police say one person is dead and another injured following a double shooting in the Parkchester section of the Bronx Friday night.
Police say two people were shot in what they describe as a drive-by shooting. They say somebody fired shots from a Chevy Equinox on Unionport and Benedict avenues.
Officers say the person who died was shot in the chest. They say another victim was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital.
Police blocked off the area with tape where there were bullets covered with cups on the ground. The scene was very active Friday night, with police presence between the Parkchester and Ortiz Funeral Homes on both sides of the street on Unionport Avenue.
A Bronx man nearby says he heard the shots go off and saw people go running.
Authorities say there were no arrests made and they are on the search for the gunman. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
