Police say one man was stabbed and another slashed after an argument turned violent in Bay Ridge on Tuesday.
They say the incident happened around 11:30 p.m. on the corner of 5th Avenue and 84th Street when a group of men got into a dispute. Two of the men ended up attacking the other two with some sort of sharp object before running off. One of the victims, a 31-year-old man, was slashed in the hand, while a 22-year-old man was stabbed in the stomach.
Both victims were rushed to an area hospital and are expected to survive. It's still not clear why the group was fighting in the first place or if the victims knew their attackers.
This incident comes at a time when overall crime is down by about 5% across the 68th Precinct. But according to NYPD data, felony assaults are up by 28.6% compared to the same time last year.
No arrests have been made and no information on a description of the two men police are looking for.
