Police: 1 person dead in accident involving dump truck, tractor-trailer on LIE

The dump truck was being operated by a 59-year-old male who was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Police say one person has died following an accident on the Long Island Expressway in North Hills this morning.  
According to police, a 1996 dump truck was traveling eastbound in the right lane of the Long Island Expressway at Exit 36 when it was struck from behind by tractor-trailer. The impact caused the dump truck to overturn.  
The dump truck was being operated by a 59-year-old male who was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead.
The truck was being operated by a 43-year-old male who remained at scene and was not injured. No criminality is suspected.
All lanes on the eastbound LIE at Exit 36 have reopened.
