NYPD: 1-year-old in critical condition wasn't in car seat during Brownsville crash; drivers face charges

A toddler is in critical condition following a two-car crash in Brownsville Monday night. Police say the child was not in a car seat, and both drivers are facing charges.

According to police, the driver of a Honda Accord ran a red light and collided into another car.

Police say a 28-year-old woman identified as Natalie Leonard was driving the Honda Accord with a 21-year-old woman, and that woman's 1-year-old child inside. After running the light, they say she collided with an Acura, sending both cars careening up onto the sidewalk.

Leonard is facing a slew of charges, including reckless endangerment, vehicular assault, DWI and operating a motor vehicle without insurance or a license.

The driver of the Acura, identified as Leisel Renaud, was charged with aggravated unlicensed operator of a motor vehicle.

No one on the street was injured.
