A 10-year-old boy is dead and an 8-year-old girl is in stable condition after a crash in Midwood Tuesday.

Police say it happened at Ocean Avenue and Avenue L at around 2:45 p.m.

Police say the SUV was going north on Ocean Avenue when it veered to the right and onto the sidewalk, striking the 10-year-old boy who was standing at a bus stop.

Police say the car then crashed into the scaffolding right behind the bus stop. The boy was taken to the New York City Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the driver of the car was a 59 year old man. They say he lost control of his car after suffering some sort of medical episode.

Police also say there was an 8-year-old girl in the car with the driver. They say her injuries were not serious and she was listed in stable condition at a hospital.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
