Police say a 10-year-old girl was struck by a car in Canarsie Sunday afternoon.

They say the incident on Remsen Avenue and Avenue L was reported around 1:30 p.m.

Officers say the girl ran into the street and the car did not see her. The girl was taken to Brookdale Hospital with head trauma.

Authorities say the driver remained on the scene and believe that criminality is not involved at this time.

People who live in the area called the intersection dangerous.
