An overnight robbery resulted in upward of $1 million worth of merchandise stolen from Venzio Jewelers in the Ocean County Mall, according to Toms River Police Chief Mitch Little.

Little said thieves are believed to have broken into the jewelry shop after the mall closed at 8 p.m. Wednesday. He believes the thieves broke through Venzio Jewelers through a vacant store next door. There is a gaping hole in the wall.

Little said the suspects then entered into office area and cut the alarm and phone cables at the same time. They then cut through a safe in the office with a torch and stole upward of $1 million worth of items. At this point, he believes nothing from the floor displays was stolen.

Anyone with information can contact Detective Michael McDonald at 732-349-0150 at extension 1366.
