Police say two men have been arrested and are accused of impersonating police officers, and police are looking for more possible victims.

According to police, the men were arrested in a parking lot at 530 Smithtown Bypass in Smithtown.

Officers first received a complaint from a male driver Wednesday evening.

Police say two men in a black Tahoe equipped with flashing blue and white lights stopped a vehicle on southbound Route 111 on East Main Street in Smithtown around 11:13 p.m.

According to police, Franco Calla, 20, and Robert Toomey, 23, were in plain clothes, approached the driver and identified themselves as undercover police officers.

Calla demanded the man's driver's license, and Toomey ordered the man to surrender any drugs.

The driver kept questioning the men who then admitted they were not police officers.

The men returned to the Tahoe and drove away.

Police say they then pulled over a female driver, but she drove away when the first driver warned her about the men.

The Tahoe then continued on Route 111, but police stopped the Tahoe and arrested them.

Calla and Toomey are charged with criminal impersonation and unlawful imprisonment. Both will be arraigned at a later date.

Calla lives in Port Jefferson and Toomey lives in Smithtown.

Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney K. Harrison has some tips if you're unsure if a person is faking being an officer.

"Keep your eyes open," Harrison says. "Also if the person is in unmarked clothes, in plain clothes and you feel uncomfortable, call 911."

Police want to know if there are more victims of this crime.
