Police: 26-year-old faces 18 charges in fatal hit-and-run crash in Bushwick

According to the NYPD, Robert Matthews, 26, is facing 18 charges, including manslaughter and unlawful fleeing of a police officer in a motor vehicle.

Police say a man was arrested and charged in a deadly hit and run crash that happened in Bushwick in May.

According to the NYPD, Robert Matthews, 26, is facing 18 charges, including manslaughter and unlawful fleeing of a police officer in a motor vehicle.

Police say 71-year-old Juanita Vidal, her 44-year-old daughter Jessica and a parked van were all hit when Matthews was speeding down Eldert Street in a rental car. Police say he was trying to out run police to avoid a traffic stop when he crashed at the intersection with Knickerbocker Avenue.

Juanita was killed in the crash while Jessica was injured.
