A weeklong series of raids has netted drugs, weapons and led to arrests at Brownsville's Noble Drew Ali Plaza complex, according to authorities.
Police arrested 35 people, ages 15 to 47, on charges they peddled heroin, crack cocaine and marijuana. Investigators say the suspects used firearms and pit bulls to intimidate residents.
Tenants said some innocent people were arrested during the widespread sweep.
The sweep comes a week after ex-Mets player Mo Vaughn and his partners purchased the complex for $23 million. The former owner had declared bankruptcy.
Vaughn's Omni New York partner said the company will go ahead with plans to improve the New Lots Avenue property.
