Police say four men are recovering after a shooting in Coney Island Sunday afternoon.
The shooting occurred in the area of West 16th Street and Mermaid Avenue shortly before 3 p.m.
Police say a 26-year-old male, who was shot in the shoulder, and a 31-year-old man, who was shot in the right hand, were taken to Lutheran Hospital in stable condition.
A 21-year-old male, who was was shot in the right thigh, and a 21-year-old male, who was shot in the right hand, were taken to Coney Island Hospital in stable condition.
Activist Tony Herbert voiced his outrage shortly after the shooting, directing his blame at elected officials. "They have to step up on our gun laws," he says."At the end of the day, these kids don't fear our gun laws."
Officials say a gun was recovered at the scene.
There was no word on a motive or possible suspects.
There were at least three other shootings in the borough on Sunday. Just after midnight, a body was found in an elevator in Bedford-Stuyvesant. A few hours later, a 38-year-old was shot in Coney Island. At 4:52 a.m., a 25-year-old was fatally shot in Crown Heights.
