A man is dead after he was struck by a van Wednesday night in Canarsie, police say.

A man is dead after he was struck by a van Wednesday night in Canarsie, police say.
According to the NYPD, 68-year-old Louis Garcia, of Brooklyn, was in the crosswalk when the van hit him at the intersection of East 105th Street and Glenwood Road.
The victim was taken to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center with severe head trauma where he later died.
Police say the driver, 47-year-old Gary Turner of Brooklyn, was taken into custody. He is facing multiple charges including vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated.
