A teen was injured when an adult intentionally hit them with their car following a confrontation in Mastic Beach, police say.
The incident happened around 9:40 a.m. in the parking lot of a bagel store on Mastic Road.
The teen was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening.
Jannie Butler says her grandson, who goes to William Floyd High School, is friends with the teen who was injured. She wants the adult who was driving the car to be arrested.
"Me as an adult, I would have tried to diffuse the situation or at least talk to the parent," Butler says. "You don't take it into your own hands."
Police have not said what led to the attack - but say a confrontation did precede it.
Parents, students and a bus driver tell News 12 the parking lot, which is near William Floyd High School, are dangerous and fights frequently break out there.
