An Amityville mother is accused of crashing her car while driving drunk with her toddler in the vehicle.

Police say Dshawna Courtney was driving on Route 135 when she struck a tree near Exit 14W in Syosset around 10:30 p.m.

They say the crash caused a scrape on the 18-month-old boy's neck and a cut on Courtney's head.

The mother and her son were both taken to a hospital for treatment and evaluation.

Courtney is charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI under Leandra's Law and endangering the welfare of a child.
