Police from the 69th Precinct teamed up with about a dozen teens in Canarsie to tackle the graffiti problem that plagues the area.
As part of a citywide initiative by the NYPD's Community Affairs Bureau to get young people involved in their neighborhood, the team assembled on Rockaway Parkway near Avenue M to paint over graffiti covering a wall at the Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant.
Golden Krust at Parkway Plaza franchisee Steven Dennis said, "This is such a pleasant surprise, I was driving by and was like what in the world is happening? The graffiti looked disgusting."
Professional muralist Kenny Altidor is also working with the group of teens.
In total, the group painted over the graffiti at three locations in Canarsie today.
