A 16-year-old was arrested in connection to the fatal shooting of 13-year-old Jaryan Elliot in Belmont last month, police say.
The suspect is facing charges of murder, manslaughter and criminal weapons charges.
As News 12 reported, 13-year-old Jaryan Elliot was fatally shot on Sunday, July 11 at around 3 p.m. in front of Angels Café on East 187 Street.
Police say the suspect got out of a car and fired gunshots, hitting Elliot in the chest and leg. Elliot was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital where he later died.
The NYPD previously said they were looking into whether the shooting was gang related.
Police are unsure if the suspect was the driver of the car, or whether they are still looking for the driver of the car involved.
