Police: Baldwin teen killed in stabbing at University at Buffalo campus

A 19-year-old from Baldwin was killed in a stabbing Friday on University at Buffalo's North Campus.

A 19-year-old from Baldwin was killed in a stabbing Friday on University at Buffalo's North Campus.
Police identified the victim as Tyler Lewis, a student at Buffalo State College. Investigators believe the attack was a targeted act of violence.
Witnesses indicate that it stemmed from a physical altercation between several individuals who knew each other.
Police have also identified a person of interest, who is described as a white male between 19 and 22 years of age with light brown hair, medium build and approximately 5’5” to 5’9” in height. He was said to be wearing a mustard-colored shirt covered in blood and left the area in a black four door sedan following the incident.
University officials say there is no ongoing danger to the community.
UB Police Chief Chris Bartolomei released a statement saying in part, “Our officers and investigators are working around the clock with local law enforcement partners to bring the individuals involved to justice. We appreciate the UB students and community members who have already come forward with information helpful to the investigation.”

​Neighbors in Baldwin said Lewis was the kind of kid whom everyone liked, helpful and kind. They were stunned to learn that he was killed in a stabbing.
"It's just shocking to know now that he's gone. It's really tough," said Ion Maravilla, who graduated from Baldwin High School along with Lewis a few years ago. "I can't imagine the pain the family is going through now."
According to Lewis' LinkedIn page, he was majoring in business administration.
Neighbors in Baldwin left flowers on the steps of the home of Lewis' parents. They said he was a great kid who would always help others on the block.
