Police are investigating a body that was found on Coney Island Avenue Wednesday morning after being dragged from Queens.
Authorities say the body of a man was found under a parked van on the corner of Coney Island Avenue and Brighton 10 Terrace.
Police Commissioner Ray Kelly says the victim was hit by a car in Corona, Queens, and then dragged 17 miles to Brighton Beach by a van.
According to Kelly, the driver who ran down the man called 911, but by that time the victim was swept away.
?The [vehicle], shortly after, gets onto the Grand Central Parkway, to the Van Wyck, to the Belt Parkway, goes west on the Belt Parkway into Brooklyn,? Kelly says.
The police commissioner adds that the driver of the van pulled over once, but did not notice the body and continued on until other motorists flagged him down.
Police have not yet released the identity of the victim. No foul play is suspected.
