The NYPD Bomb Squad responded to the Pink Houses this morning for a report of a suspicious device, but it turned out to be a hoax.
Police say the call came in just before 11 a.m. Saturday to report that a suspicious device was found in the building, located at 1209 Loring Ave. The building was completely evacuated.
An officer at the scene told News 12 that he saw what appeared to be wrapped-up dynamite inside.
The Bomb Squad and Office of Emergency Management crew members entered the building and determined the incident was a hoax.
Tenants and neighbors say they were panicked as they waited on nearby streets for more information.
