A Brownsville mother was attacked by a group of teenagers late Sunday evening in a park, police say.
The family of Hafina Akter says the attack happened at around 7:30 p.m. They say she was followed by a group of teen girls to Carter G. Woodson Children's Park. One of the teens targeted Akter, hitting her in the head with a tree branch.
Akter suffered a gash above her eyebrow and a swollen face. She was taken to Kings County Hospital and received stitches for her wounds.
The victim's family says she is doing much better, but is still in a lot of pain. They say they hope police catch those responsible to prevent others from being harmed.
Anyone with information on the attack is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
