Police detain 2 persons of interest in connection to sex assault on Morristown hiking trail
The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office says that two persons of interest have been detained in relations to sexual assault investigation in Morristown.
Officials say that a woman was pushed to the ground and sexually assaulted while walking on the Traction Line Recreation Trail Tuesday afternoon.
Police say two Hispanic men approached the woman and asked her for money. When she refused, police say one of the men pushed her down and sexually assaulted her.
Authorities released a police sketch and surveillance pictures of the suspects during a news conference on Thursday.
“As a result of a coordinated effort between law enforcement agencies, the public, and the media, two persons-of-interest were detained this afternoon. This occurred just a few hours after a press conference was held and composite sketch released,” a spokesperson for the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
The spokesperson said that investigation remained active.
