Police are investigating three deaths at a Fort Greene nursing home they say all occurred between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. Thursday.
According to investigators, three male residents who lived on the same floor of the New Carlton Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center all died within the same hour. The men, ages 77, 72 and 61, were found lifeless in their rooms by New Carlton staff. Police say the timing of the deaths is what makes the case unusual.
The medical director of the home says there is nothing suspicious about the deaths and that all three men died of natural causes.
Officials from the city medical examiner?s office will perform autopsies on the men. Detectives spent time Thursday interviewing the nurses on duty overnight to determine the food and medicine the men had ingested recently.
