Police: Fleeing man caught on barbed wire fence shot to death
Police are hoping to identify the men caught on a video of what they call a gang-related slaying in East New York.
Police say 21-year-old Tyquan Eversley was chased by a mob of 10 men after being punched in the face by one of the men last Tuesday on New Lots Avenue.
Surveillance footage of the incident shows the chase, which ends when Eversley tried to jump over but got stuck on a chain-link barbed wire fence on the other side.
Police say one man threw a rock, then another shot him five times, ultimately leading to his death. It took place between Elton and Cleveland streets on March 19.
Police say there is a gang affiliation in the case.
Three of the men in the surveillance video have been identified but not apprehended – 29-year-old Donaven McDay, 24-year-old Shacore Huff and 22-year-old Alfred Crooks. Police hope to identify more suspects soon.
Police have arrested one man, Michael Reid, 25, and charged him with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
