Police have identified the man who was shot and killed in Crown Heights Thursday night.
Police say 22-year-old Marlon Shuffler was walking with friends around 11:30 p.m. on Lincoln Place near Franklin Avenue when someone started shooting at them.
Shuffler was struck in the head and was unconscious when police arrived. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
No arrests have been made in the case.
Relatives say the victim was known as "China" to loved ones, and had two children with another on the way. They describe him as a good father and hard worker who aspired to enter the music industry.
"He was supposed to finish growing up to be a full-grown man and watch his children grow up to be a beautiful young lady and handsome young man," says Shuffler's godmother, Katrina Glover.
The shooting comes a day after two people were shot just a few blocks away. Community advocate Tony Herbert is calling for additional community efforts and more support from the city to curb gun violence.
