Police identify teen found dead in Bush Terminal Park

A body was found in the waters of Bush Terminal Park on Sunday morning. This morning, police identified the victim as 15-year-old Nancy Zheng. She lived just minutes away from where she was found dead.
Her cause of death is still waiting to be determined by the medical examiner.
Her death comes just days after a fatal stabbing in the same neighborhood. Neighbors mentioned to News 12 that both instances happening so close to one another has them on heightened alert.
Residents also expressed safety concerns in response to this incident. They say this area has become quite dangerous, and that it is common to see people using drugs and alcohol on park grounds.
They have also noted the lack of patrolling at the park, along with broken lights that make the area dark at night.
News 12 reached out to the New York City Parks Department and are still awaiting a response.
