The NYPD has identified the woman whose remains were found in suitcases in a Cypress Hills apartment on Sept. 21.
Police identified the woman as D'Asia Johnson, 22, of Brooklyn. The Chief Medical Examiner says the cause of death was multiple stab wounds to the torso.
On Sept. 21, officers responded to the apartment building at 315 Lindwood St. after they say tenants of the building smelled a foul order. The smell came from the 6th floor apartment.
Authorities found a body was dismembered and stuffed into two suitcases in the apartment.
Neighbors told News 12 they have seen the victim's boyfriend beat her several times. Neighbors also told News 12 the fighting would get so bad that, at times, they needed to call police. Soon after, the fighting stopped, and neighbors claim they haven't seen the woman in two weeks.
Police are still looking to speak with the boyfriend. He has not yet been identified.
