A police-involved shooting occurred early Sunday morning in Brownsville, according to authorities.
It happened around 5:30 a.m. on Amboy and East New York avenues.
Police sources say officers approached a disorderly man and attempted to deescalate the situation. The man then slashed one officer in the forehead with a knife. He was then shot by two police officers.
He was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, according to police sources. Multiple officers were also hospitalized in stable condition.
News 12 viewers called in reporting that they woke up to the sound of gunfire and saw the shooting from their window.
Authorities have yet to release information about the incident.
