The NYPD says it is looking for a group of people wanted in connection to stealing phones across the city, five of those incidents happening in Williamsburg.

Police say each incident starts with the group asking to borrow the victim's phone, then someone snatches the phone before running off. They say no one was injured in the incidents and all happened in the early hours of the morning before 5 a.m.

The incidents occurred dating back to as early as the beginning of August and as recent as Sept. 13. Police say the thefts in Brooklyn either happened on Bedford Avenue, near North 3 Street or near North 6 street.

Mohammed Ali, an employee in the area, says he's aware of the pattern and takes precautions.

"I keep my phone if I'm not using it in a secure place or my pocket always," said Ali.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the NYPD.
