A machete-wielding man was arrested Saturday after he broke into multiple vehicles in a Levittown neighborhood, police say.
Footage from security cameras show a man carrying a machete, walking across lawns and trying to open car doors.
Nassau police say they got multiple reports of someone carrying the weapon and breaking into vehicles.
Charles Logiudici says his truck on Hickory Lane was broken into.
“I saw my stuff was moved around and my items were taken,” he says.
Logiudici saw his work clipboard and other personal items were taken. He admits he accidentally left the doors unlocked but said the man must have worked quickly and quietly.
“The alarm didn't sound. I have two dogs and they didn't sound either,” he says.
Nassau police say after multiple 911 calls, they were able to locate and arrest 40-year-old Vincent Derosa, of Bethpage.
Police say Derosa was breaking into vehicles along Hickory Lane, Mallard Road and Jupiter Lane in Levittown before he was taken into custody.
Derosa was charged with Grand Larceny and Petit Larceny. He was released without bond.
