Police found two people dead in a possible domestic-related incident inside a Sunset Park apartment early Friday.

Authorities received a 911 call for a wellness check from neighbors who heard fighting and commotion inside the apartment on the corner of 54th Street and Sixth Avenue.

A woman, 61, was found by officers lying unconscious in the hallway with multiple cuts and stab wounds to the head, neck and upper torso, authorities say.

A man, 52, was found lying outside the building with a knife beside him.

Authorities believe he may have jumped after stabbing the woman.

Both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.

The two were a couple known to have a troubled relationship, according to neighbors. A close friend of the man said that he had been struggling with depression since losing his son and mother.

Other neighbors tell News 12 they had previously spoken to the man and asked him to seek mental health counseling.

The exact cause of their deaths is still being determined, according to the medical examiner.
