Suffolk police are cracking down on street racing following an investigation that led to the arrest of a Patchogue man and 119 summonses being issued Saturday.

Suffolk police are cracking down on street racing following an investigation that led to the arrest of a Patchogue man and 119 summonses being issued Saturday.
Police say they found a large group of approximately 300 people on Oval Drive in Islandia who were believed to be preparing to race.
Nicolas Vaden was arrested for allegedly driving while ability impaired by drugs and resisting arrest.
Suffolk County legislators are considering a bill that would seize cars involved in drag racing and reckless driving. It would also require large fines to get the vehicles back.
“This just can't continue. It just can't, it's the summer,” says Legislator Leslie Kennedy. “We have families with children. We have people who need to sleep at night to go to work in the morning.”
