A man driving a gray van attempted to kidnap an 11-year-old girl in Brooklyn, according to police.
It happened at a bus stop near Rogers Avenue and Albermarle Road in Flatbush around 5:40 p.m. Thursday.
They say the suspect pulled up to the victim and offered the girl a ride home.
Police say the girl refused, and when she did, the man got out of the van and tried to forcibly grab her.
The girl told police she saw a wooden stick in the man's hand so she ran away back toward her school, which is only about a block away from the bus stop.
Police say the girl alerted school officials inside and they called 911.
Police describe the suspect as being a black male, 40 years old, between 5'3"-5'4" tall, and 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray baseball cap, a gray sweater and gray pants. He was driving a very old, rusty gray van.
