A man has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a Jewish man in Borough Park.
Police say the incident happened at 7:30 a.m. on the corner of 13th Avenue and 46th Street. They say 37-year-old Aszal Farrukh attacked the 62-year-old victim.
Camera footage shows the victim standing when a vehicle pulls up, and the suspect runs toward him and starts to punch and push him. The victim tries to run away, but the suspect continues to attack him and push him toward the middle of street.
Another man passing by then tries to stop the attack, but Farrukh then runs after him.
A witness told News 12 he heard the suspect yelling out racist words.
Police say the victim is OK and recovering from wounds to his head. They also tell News 12 that there was some kind of confrontation between the two men before the attack happened.
Officials say Farrukh is now charged with assault in the third degree, harassment in the second degree and menacing in the third degree.
According to police, Farrukh works as a taxi driver.
