Police say they have a warrant out for the arrest of Gloria Asamoah, the mother of the 5-year-old twins found dead inside of a Mount Hope apartment back in December.

Authorities say she was with her two children, George and Gianni Kantanka, in their apartment at 240 East 175th St. when they were smothered to death. Investigators say the father was not home at the time of their deaths. He cooperated with the investigation, while police said their mother had been hospitalized for being emotionally distraught.

Police say they plan to arrest her when she's cleared by a doctor.

This all comes as a shock to neighbors who told News 12 the 42-year-old was a good mom who was always there for her kids.

"Every day you see the children, [she would go] and pick them up from the day care," said Natalia Beltri. "It's a surprise for everyone in the building."
