Two men were arrested Wednesday in connection with the shooting of a 9-year-old boy in Crown Heights.
Police say Luis Gonzales, 18, and Jonathan Frazier, 19, were taken into custody in relation to the shooting of Shamshawan Kelly. They were both charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
According to investigators, the victim, who was shot in the head at 1670 Pacific St. at around 9:00 p.m. Monday, was caught in the crossfire between the two men and hit by a stray bullet. Authorities say Gonzales lives in the same building as Kelly.
After the shooting, the boy was rushed to Kings County Hospital in critical condition, but his family says that after undergoing surgery, he is expected to recover.
Police say a third man, 17-year-old Franklin Gillespie, was also arrested on an open robbery investigation, but it is not clear how he is connected to the shooting.
