Panic broke out in Times Square Sunday evening as people scrambled from what they thought were gunshots.
Police responded to 46th Street and Broadway around 5:30 p.m. to find a man with a leg injury that was possibly inflicted by a gunshot.
The man with the injury resisted police as they tried to detain him. He was placed on a stretcher and into an ambulance.
A witness says he was about to sit down when he heard “pop”.
“Everyone in the crowd came running this way,” says James Chesney. “So of course I’m going to run.”
Police say no gunshots were fired and no other injuries were reported.
