Police offer cash reward for information that led to East Patchogue man’s death

Police say Benjamin Herold was found outside his house with leg pain on Oct. 30.

Police are searching for answers about the death of an East Patchogue man.
According to police, Benjamin Herold walked from 7-Eleven in East Patchogue on Montauk Highway back to his home on Atlantic Avenue just before 10 p.m. on Oct. 30.
About a half hour later, police say Herold was found outside his house with leg pain.
The 41-year-old was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.
Police believe his injuries could have been the result of being struck by a vehicle.
