Police say an officer fired his weapon at a man lunging at them with a knife Monday in East Flatbush.
The shooting happened outside an apartment building on Hawthorne Street right before 8 p.m.
Police tell News 12 they were called to the scene after an argument on the second floor.
They say back on the street, the 39-year-old man started acting erratic and lunged at them with a knife.
That’s when one officer shot his gun.
No one was hurt, but the two officers were taken to a hospital to check their ears after the loud sound of the gun being fired.
Both officers have been released.
The man, who reportedly has emotional problems, was taken to the hospital in police custody for evaluation.
