A retired NYPD officer is in critical but stable condition after an apparent accidental shooting in Sheepshead Bay, police tell News 12.
They say the 53-year-old woman was cleaning her gun when it went off, with the bullet striking her in the torso.
Police blocked off part of the sidewalk during their investigation on Gravesend Neck Road and East 13th Street.
Officials were still on the scene Monday night. The former officer was recovering at the hospital.
