Police cars blocked the street between Paulding Ave. and Laconia Ave. on E 213th St. Sunday night, after a 37-year-old man was struck by a bullet.

Investigators say they responded to a call of a shooting at 1026 E 213th St. at around 10:55 p.m. on Sunday.

There they found the victim shot once in the right leg. He was taken to Jacobi Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

Citizen video showed a person surrounded by police. It’s unclear if it was the victim or an eyewitness.

A source told News 12, the incident happened after a verbal dispute between the victim and the shooter.

As neighbors walked by the block Friday morning, many said they were frightened. Christiana, a schoolteacher in the area, said she passes the street every day. Her commute this morning was filled with some hesitation.

"It’s so scary, just thinking if I was here at night or passing through, I could’ve been shot or have to run for my life," said Christiana.

Other neighbors confirmed to News 12 they heard loud pops overnight, but many refused to go into details about what they witnessed.

The investigation continues with police searching for the gunman who fled the scene in a white BMW. Sources believe he was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and grey shorts.
